This past Friday, I finally shared something I've been working toward for a long time.
I announced the opening of my own spa.
Ur Skin Therapist
Even writing those words still feels surreal.
Over the years, I've taught classes, mentored beauty professionals, spoken on stages, built relationships in this industry, and helped countless clients navigate their skincare journeys. But this next chapter feels different because it's something I've dreamed about for a very long time.
And what has happened since the announcement has honestly left me speechless.
Before the doors have even officially opened, more than 30 clients have already booked appointments.
Thirty.
And I still have over two weeks before opening day.
The Lesson Is Bigger Than the Booking Number
While I'm incredibly grateful for every appointment booked, the biggest lesson isn't the number.
The lesson is what helped create it.
People often see the result.
They don't always see the years behind it.
The years of showing up.
The years of educating.
The years of building relationships.
The years of helping people without expecting anything in return.
The years of planting seeds.
Because that's what this really is.
A harvest season.
Social Media Is a Tool
I hear beauty professionals say all the time:
"I don't know what to post."
"Nobody watches my content."
"Social media doesn't work."
And while I understand the frustration, I can tell you firsthand that social media has been one of the biggest tools in helping me grow my business.
Not because I went viral every day.
Not because every post performed well.
But because I consistently showed up.
I educated.
I shared my expertise.
I built trust.
I gave people a reason to follow my journey.
And over time, those small moments created something much bigger.
Your Network Matters
The other thing that helped fill my books wasn't an advertisement.
It was people.
People I met through church.
People I met through community events.
People I met through networking opportunities.
People I met at trade shows.
People I met through education.
People who watched me work long before they ever became clients.
Relationships matter.
Community matters.
The beauty industry is built on relationships.
Your next opportunity is often connected to someone you already know, or someone you're about to meet.
Education Creates Opportunity
One thing I've learned over the years is that education has always opened doors for me.
Teaching classes.
Speaking at events.
Mentoring beauty professionals.
Creating content.
Sharing knowledge.
Every time I've invested into educating others, opportunities followed.
Not immediately.
Not overnight.
But consistently.
Because when you focus on serving people, trust naturally follows.
To The Beauty Professional Reading This
If you're feeling discouraged right now, let me encourage you.
Keep showing up.
Keep learning.
Keep posting.
Keep networking.
Keep introducing yourself.
Keep attending the event.
Keep taking the class.
Keep building the relationship.
The seeds you're planting today may not bloom tomorrow.
But they are growing.
You don't always see progress while it's happening.
Sometimes you only recognize it when you look back.
Why Mentorship Matters
One of the reasons I'm so passionate about mentorship is because I know how overwhelming this industry can feel.
There is so much information.
So many opinions.
So many directions you could take.
Sometimes you don't need more information.
You need strategy.
You need clarity.
You need someone who can help you connect the dots.
That's exactly why I created my mentorship programs.
Not to give people shortcuts.
But to help them build intentionally.
To help them avoid unnecessary mistakes.
To help them grow with purpose.
Because success leaves clues.
And sometimes the fastest way to grow is learning from someone who's already walked the path.
This Is Just The Beginning
What's exciting is that the spa isn't even open yet.
There are still new services coming.
New partnerships coming.
New educational opportunities coming.
New experiences coming for my clients.
And while this announcement was a major milestone, I truly believe it's only the beginning.
If there's one thing I hope you take away from this post, it's this:
Never underestimate the power of consistency.
The post that feels unnoticed.
The networking event you almost skipped.
The conversation that seemed insignificant.
The relationship you took time to build.
The educational content you shared.
It all matters.
Because one day you'll look around and realize that what felt like small steps were actually building something much bigger than you imagined.
And when that moment comes, you'll be grateful you didn't quit.
